Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said that facilities for their leader, Imran Khan, were taken away, but the administration at Adiala Jail denied these claims. PTI said Khan was having problems because the jail didn’t have enough facilities.
The director of Central Jail Rawalpindi, which is also known as Adiala Jail, said that Khan can use all the services listed in the jail handbook. The safety and health of this person are given extra care.
He made it clear that Khan gets an English newspaper every day and has a place to walk and an exercise machine to keep himself in shape.
The director also said that Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have been given their kitchen. The prison staff is there 24 hours a day to ensure their safety. Khan can also get books and read them.
The official denied that Khan’s cell had an open sewer and Bushra Bibi’s cell had rats, saying that these claims were not true.
Khan can meet with lawyers and family members, hold party talks twice a week, and meet with people in jail during case meetings.
The person working in the jail also said that Khan can watch TV in his cell.
They said these things in reaction to PTI Senator Muhammad Ali Khan Saif’s claims that Khan wasn’t getting enough “facilities” in jail. After meeting Khan in jail, Senator Saif said that Khan was having a hard time.
The senator said Khan’s position is different from that of former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Khan is getting different benefits.
Senator Saif also said Khan has ear pain and hasn’t been given an electric toothbrush or dumbbells to exercise with. He has also been told he can’t talk on the phone with his kids.
Saif told Khan how upset PTI workers were that the public gathering planned for August 22 had to be suddenly rescheduled. In answer, Khan told the party leaders to settle the problems.
