The video, captured by an onlooker and shared on social media, shows police using tasers to restrain two suspects. The individuals being beaten are reported to be British Pakistanis.
Police Statement
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) described the incident as “truly shocking” and acknowledged the public’s outrage regarding the excessive use of force. The police Manchester had been responding to an assault involving three officers, one of whom, a female cop, sustained a fractured nose.
Suspended Officer
Following an investigation by an impartial monitor, one officer involved in the incident has been suspended. The suspects in the video have been charged with affray, assault, assaulting an emergency responder, and impeding law enforcement.
