All countries should have the same right to take part in foreign issues, Dong said, to stress the need for unity. His main point was that cooperation, not fighting, was the best way to keep the peace and safety.

Following the meeting, Chase is scheduled to meet with Chinese military leaders for talks. Recently, the U.S. and China talked about security, which could mean that their armed relationship is getting better.
Chad Sbragia, a former official in the U.S. Pentagon, emphasized the importance of the U.S. taking part in the meeting. His words showed that the United States is still determined to work with China and the rest of the world.
