PITTSBURGH (AFP): Vice President Kamala Harris economic criticized Donald Trump on Wednesday, calling him the “biggest loser” on the economy. She accused Trump of favoring billionaires and warned that his plans would harm the middle class.
Speaking in Pittsburgh, a key city in the swing state of Pennsylvania, Harris outlined her plan to reduce prices for Americans. She argued that Trump’s policies only benefit those at the top. “For Donald Trump, our economy works best if it works for those who own the big skyscrapers, not those who build them,” she stated. Harris also pointed out that nearly 200,000 factory jobs were lost during Trump’s presidency, calling him “one of the biggest losers ever on manufacturing.”
In her first solo interview since becoming the Democratic nominee in July, Harris criticized Trump’s new tariff plans. She said to MSNBC, “You don’t just throw around the idea of tariffs across the board. He’s not very serious.” Harris warned that Trump’s tariffs could potentially hurt everyday Americans by raising prices on imported goods, a prospect that should concern us all.
Trump’s Defense and Threats
In response, Trump’s campaign dismissed Harris’s speech, labeling it “full of lies.” The former president defended his Kamala Harris economic plans, vowing to revive American manufacturing. However, his proposed tariffs ranging from 50% to 200% on imports could have serious consequences for the economy.
However, Trump spent much of his speech talking about threats to his life. He referred to two recent assassination attempts and threats from Iran. He warned Iran, saying, “If you harm this person, we will blow your largest cities to smithereens.” Trump plans to return to Butler, Pennsylvania, in October, where he survived an assassination attempt in July.
A Dramatic Election
The 2024 election has been one of the most dramatic in U.S. history. Two assassination attempts have targeted Trump, including a recent incident in Florida. Ryan Routh was indicted for attempting to kill Trump at his golf course.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the race earlier, shared his thoughts on his decision. On ABC’s “The View,” Biden said he was “at peace” with stepping down but believed he could still have beaten Trump.
