Monitor Desk in Karachi: Yesterday, India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar was beaten by Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir T20 record to become the fastest bowler in T20 history. Amir bowled more first overs than any other bowler. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons player Amir reached this goal in a game against Barbados Royals in the current Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024.
While his team was defending 177 runs, Amir started to bowl. Rakheem Cornwall, a hard-hitting batter, was kept at bay by his tremendous bowling. Except for a goodbye on the last ball, Amir didn’t let any runs through in his first over. With this, he broke Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record of 24 first overs in T20 cricket and now has 25.
Dear Amir, Some of the best T20 bowlers in the world can’t match Amir’s accomplishments. After Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz (21) and Mohammad Irfan (20), India’s Jasprit Bumrah comes in second with 22 clean overs, and New Zealand’s Trent Boult comes in third with 17.
But now Mohammad Amir T20 record is third on the list as a whole. If you’re looking for the most perfect overs in T20 cricket, Sunil Narine of West Indies is the leader with 30. Shakib Al Hasan, an all-rounder from Bangladesh, is in second place with 26.
Record Breakers in T20 Maiden Overs
24 for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 22 for Jasprit Bumrah, 21 for Wahab Riaz, and 20 for Mohammad Irfan.
If you play fast-paced cricket like T20, where batters usually win, Amir’s accomplishment is truly impressive.
Shaheen Afridi sets another T20 record.
In the first over of a T20 match earlier this year, another Pakistani fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, broke Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s record for most catches. It was Afridi’s in-swinging ball that got rid of Tim Robinson during Pakistan’s T20I match against New Zealand. Kumar and David Willey of England are now tied for second place with 46 first-over wickets each. Afridi is now in first place with 49 wickets, four behind Amir, who has 40 wickets.
