India turned over its second nuclear-powered missile submarine, INS Arighat, at an event held in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke at the event about the submarine’s advanced features and equipment made in India.
The INS Arighat is a big step forward in India’s defense powers. The submarine is made of special materials and complicated engineering, and it was designed and built using cutting-edge technologies. According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), a lot of study and development went into building it.
Singh stressed the importance of building strong defense forces in the current political environment. He said, “As India moves toward becoming a developed country, it is important to strengthen our military at the same time that our economy grows.” Our government is determined to give our troops the best guns and tools made in India.
India is still closely monitoring its nuclear submarine program. INS Arihant, the country’s first nuclear submarine, was launched in July 2009 and put into service in 2016. In October 2022, INS Arihant fired a ballistic missile into the Bay of Bengal, and it went off safely, showing how strong and accurate it was.
India wants to improve its military power over the long run by building five Arihant-class submarines, including six nuclear attack subs. This plan depends on both nuclear and non-nuclear subs.
The Arihant class, whose name comes from a Sanskrit word that means “Destroyer of the Enemy,” shows how important these ships are from a military point of view. Singh said he was confident in INS Arighat’s skills during the event. He said that the submarine would help keep the peace and maintain strategic balance in the area by strengthening India’s nuclear defense.
Singh praised the launching of INS Arighat as a major accomplishment that shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of making India self-sufficient in defense.
