Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistani cricket player, has told the Indian cricket team not to go to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. Because of safety worries, Kaneria thinks the tournament should be a mix of two different types of events, with India’s games being held in Dubai instead of Pakistan.
There is increasing doubt about India’s ability to play in the Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan in February and March 2025. Kaneria’s words come at this time. There are already worries about the safety of Indian players because of the political issues between India and Pakistan. The Indian team hasn’t been to Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup because of ongoing political problems.
Kaneria discussed his worries in an interview with Sports Tak, saying, “Given the current situation in Pakistan, the Indian team should not travel there.” The tournament is expected to include various events, with India’s games being held in Dubai.
Kaneria said that player safety should be the only thing that the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) think about. He said that he was proud of the BCCI’s work in handling the problem and was sure that all countries would agree with the final decision. “The most important thing is that the players stay safe.” After that comes respect. “I think the final choice will be a hybrid model,” Kaneria said. “The BCCI is doing a great job.”
Kaneria’s position is clear, but some people in Pakistan, like past cricket players and leaders, want India to join the event. They talk a lot about how much cricket is loved in Pakistan and how excited fans are to see Indian stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma play.
India will play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but the BCCI has not yet made a public announcement about it. Cricket players and fans are now waiting to see what happens as the event approaches.
