Navin Vaishnaw, 24, died early Thursday morning in Goregaon, Mumbai, after being hit by a car that then drove away. Around 4 a.m., Vaishnaw was delivering milk on his motorbike when the accident happened.
A 17-year-old boy was driving a Mahindra Scorpio SUV in the accident. It is said that the SUV came from the wrong side and hit Vaishnaw’s bike before hitting an electric pole. The young driver tried to get away but was caught by cops after getting hurt.
The young driver, Iqbal Jivani, the owner of the SUV, and his son, Mohammed Faz Iqbal Jivani, have been charged by the police. The driver may have been drunk at the time of the accident, which is being looked into officially. Some blood has been sent to be tested.
This terrible event has made people in Mumbai worry about the safety of their roads. It comes after a similar case in Pune, where two people were killed when a teenager was driving a Porsche while reportedly drunk.
